With the UPZ 210LiII series, OKAMOTO provides high-precision CNC high-speed machines with linear motor drive, which, thanks to their technical details, optimally meet the high demands of manufacturers in various industries for excellent dimensional and contour accuracy.
In micro-profile manufacturing, absolute precision is paramount. The slightest deviations outside defined tolerances are unacceptable. To achieve this precision, temperature-stable, vibration-free grinding processes are essential. Thomas Loscher, Technical Manager at Okamoto, explains: “In addition, every production manager naturally strives to manufacture their components with very fast machining times. Okamoto has met all these key requirements with the systems from the UPZ 210Li series. Linear motors ensure maximum acceleration in all three axes, significantly reducing machining times.”
Precise high-speed grinding
High-speed profile grinding typically uses cam-controlled machines and servo motors. Okamoto, however, relies on linear technology for the table axis as well as the horizontal and vertical movements. This enables significantly higher acceleration values and extremely high repeatability. Thomas Loscher explains: “The linear motors used in the UPZ 210Li allow table speeds of up to 50 m/min. With a stroke length of 20 mm, for example, carbide grinding with 520 pendulum strokes per minute is possible. Combined with a constant feed motion, this allows for significantly faster operation than with conventional profile grinding machines, thus drastically increasing productivity.”
